Greater Houlton Christian Academy lists science fair winners

The Greater Houlton Christian Academy held its Open House and Science Fair on March 12.
The Best Overall project was created by eighth-grader Brandon Bennett. He demonstrated “How wing design affects flight?”

There were several judges looking over each of the projects and discussing the findings with the students, based on their research.
Winners of the Science Fair were Grace Graham, seventh grade, with “Which substance removes ink stains the best?”; Abigail Angotti, eighth grade, “Does eye color affect memory?” and Zach Ebner, high school, “What substance best prevents an apple from browning?”
Taking honors in seventh grade were: Angela Nam, second, “Does temperature affect the strength of a magnet?”; Wesley Ganglfinger, third, “How does the color of light affect plant growth?”; and Caleb Morrison, honorable mention, “Does sound affect heart rate?”
In eighth grade, Darcie Campbell-McCarthy placed second, “Which shape ice cube melts the fastest?” while Parker Sherman and Makayla Watson tied for third, with “How does guitar position affect volume?” and “Which stain remover works best?,” respectively.
Rounding out the high school winners were Rachel Potter, second, “Does gender affect color preference?”; Allana Walker, third, “How does switching baking powder with baking soda affect recipes?” and Colby Walker, honorable mention, “Which paper towel is the most absorbant?”
