The Houlton Shiretowners wrapped up the number-one spot in Maine Principals’ Association Class C Eastern Maine boys Heal points. The Shires are 17-0 with a tourney index of 134.8765 points. The top 11 teams qualify for the playoffs.
Behind the Shires is Penquis Valley, 16-1, 92.7469; third, Lee Academy, 12-5, 68.6728; fourth, Dexter, 10-7, 58.4877; fifth, Calais, 13-3, 52.1060; sixth, Bucksport, 8-9, 50.7716; seventh, Sumner, 9-6, 50.7716; eighth, Stearns, 11-6, 50.0000; ninth, Fort Kent, 7-9, 38.4259; 10th, George Stevens Academy,

Houlton coach Rob Moran reminded his troops that the final seedings can be thrown out the window, as Bangor approaches. His players need to continue to execute against their opponents to win, regardless of rank or record.
In Class D boys, Jonesport-Beals takes top honor with a 16-0 record and 95.3545 tournament points. The GHCA in 19th position with a 2-14 record still has an outside shot of making the postseason.
Games that should have been won are looming large in the playoff picture. However, on any given night, any team can be beaten. Couple that with a chance to reach the Bangor Auditorium, anything can happen.
