WESTON – Linda “Lou” Ellen (Dwyer) Palmer, left this world to be with our Lord on Sunday, January 13, 2013, after an extremely valiant battle with heart disease. She was born in Weston, the daughter of Montie and Ruth ( Faulkner) Dwyer.
Linda spent the majority of her life living in Linneus where she and her husband, Jim, built their home and raised their family, working alongside Jim in the family logging and construction business. She and Jim were a true team, whether it be in the way they danced in sync together or the way they laid bricks together, they were a match.
Linda had no problem driving a dump truck or bulldozer, yet she also loved doing hair. She obtained her cosmetology license, then opened and ran her own hair salon.
Linda was a member of the Daughters of Rebekah. She loved to bowl, fish and canoe with Jim. Following the death of her husband, Linda returned to her roots at Faulkner Lake in Weston. She truly loved the outdoors and the wildlife, and you would likely find her kayaking on the lake or snowshoeing across the field.
She attended the Weston Community Church and had a true faith in God which was evidenced by her acceptance and love of people for who they were; she was always ready with a cup of coffee and an ear to listen to anyone in need. She had a special way of drawing people to her and she had more friends than we will ever know.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Ruthie Stewart, GaeAnn Woznica & husband Joseph, James Palmer Jr. & wife, Carrie, and Todd Palmer and wife, Robin; step-daughter, Cherie Palmer; grandchildren Erica (Lynds) Rodriguez, Brooke (Lynds) Costello, Jeremiah, Benjamin & Samari Stewart, Whitney, Samantha, Jamie, and Joshua Palmer; great-grandaughter Addison Anna Costello; her beloved siblings, brother, Gary Dwyer and sisters, Mary (Dwyer) Wiley and Sarah (Dwyer) McGuire. Linda will be lovingly remembered by her special friend, “Skip” Earl Rafus and their companions Napoleon, Buddy, and Maybell. She is predeceased by her parents; her lifelong love, James Palmer Sr.; and her beloved brother, Wayne Dwyer.
Linda’s children will always remember her as a great mother who inspired us to be everything you could be. She was an enormous presence in a tiny package. She never let you leave without a smile and an “I love you” and “be safe”. How we will so sadly miss her words until we can be together again. We love you, Mommy.
Friends may call 12 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 17th at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water Street, Houlton where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Emery Dwyer officiating. Spring interment will be held in the Linneus Cemetery. For an online memory book and to leave condolences please visit www.bowersfuneral.com.
