    Local high school girls varsity teams have been busy on the hardwood. The following is a recap of games played through Saturday.
    Southern Aroostook 41, Katahdin 29 — The Lady Warriors overpowered host Katahdin last Wednesday in Stacyville.
    Sable Altvater led Southern Aroostook’s scoring with 12 points, while Jess Tucker dropped in 10 and Desirae Dubois added eight.
    For Katahdin, Megan Merry fired in 15 points and Molly Cunningham netted eight.
    Katahdin 33, CAHS 38 — Last Friday night’s game in Mars Hill saw the visiting Katahdin girls leading the Panthers, 18-11 at halftime and 26-22 after the third. But, Mars Hill outscored Katahdin, 16-7, in the final stanza to take the win.
    Megan Merry hit for 10 points for Katahdin, while Molly Cunningham added nine and Ashley Randall finished with eight points.
    For Mars Hill, Kayla Cushman led the way with 20 points and Sarah Grass chipped in with eight.
    GHCA 47, Washburn 85 — On Monday at the University of Maine Presque Isle, Washburn jumped out 27-4 in the first quarter en route to the win.
    MacKenzie Worcester’s 20 points led the way for the undefeated Beavers, while teammate Carsyn Koch scored 16.
    Colby Walker knocked down 15 points and Makayla Watson added nine points for GHCA. Destinee Neureuther chipped in with six, while Olivia Lord had five points and Rylee Warman, along with Cailtin Miles, each added another four. Halle Duff and Jennah Carver rounded out the scoring.
    GHCA 47, Southern Aroostook 62 — Last Saturday, a strong 13-point first-quarter effort by Altvater (21 points) broke open a close game.
    SACS’ Mataya Hartin and Desirae Dubois each added 12 points.
    GHCA was led by Walker’s game-high 26 points.
    At halftime, the Lady Warriors led 33-18 and after three, 49-33.
