    Hare, Leota I., 92, January 1, 2013.  Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Houlton.  Spring interment to be held in the Village Cemetery.
    HODGDON – Leota Iris (Grass) Hare, 92, passed away Jan. 1, 2013, at Houlton Regional Hospital. She was born Sept. 23, 1920, in Littleton, daughter of George and Verla (Crouse) Grass.
    Leota was a proud farmer’s wife, was a meticulous seamstress and enjoyed woodworking. She was on the Houlton Fair Board and enjoyed volunteering at the Fourth of July fair. She was a frugal homemaker and made sure that visiting family or friends, as well as the farm help, feasted on handmade butter, bread pies, pickles, and homegrown vegetables.
    She is survived by her daughters, Delores Simmons and Sandra Hare; sons, Roderick London and Elwood Hare; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and brother, Dean Grass of Monmouth. She was predeceased by her husband, Vincent; and son, Arthur.
    Friends called from noon-1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Bowers Funeral Home, Houlton, where funeral services began 1 p.m. with the Rev. Dale Holden officiating. A spring interment will be at Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate in Leota’s memory to Houlton Regional Hospital Activity Fund, 22 Hartford St., Houlton, ME 04730.
