Sherman woman injured in crash

    SHERMAN, Maine — A 66-year-old Sherman woman was injured Nov. 6 when her vehicle collided into the back end of an empty log truck on the Golden Ridge Road.
    According to Sgt. Josh Haines of the Maine State Police, Candace McKellar of Sherman was traveling south on the Golden Ridge Road at about 6:02 p.m. in a 2011 Toyota Sienna when she ran into a log trailer operated by Jay Moore, 51, also of Sherman. Moore was backing his 2002 Western Star tractor with an unloaded log trailer into his driveway at the time of the crash.
McKellar was trapped in the vehicle and extricated by an emergency response crew. She was transported to the Millinocket Regional Hospital to seek treatment for her injuries. Hospital officials refused to release information pertaining to McKellar’s condition to the newspaper.
McKellar’s vehicle was totaled and was towed from the scene. Moore was not injured.
Patten Ambulance, Island Falls Ambulance, Sherman Fire and Island Falls Fire all responded to the scene. The accident was investigated by Trooper Dave Coflesky and he was assisted at the scene by Sgt. Josh Haines, Trooper Jared Sylvia and Deputy Peter Stone of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
No charges were filed in the case.
