Georgina M. Jones

Jones, Georgina M., 74, October 28, 2012.  Arrangements by Dunn Funeral Home, Houlton.  Interment to be held in the Littleton Cemetery.
LITTLETON & PORTLAND – Georgina Mae Jones, 74, went to be with the Lord early Sunday morning on October 28, 2012 with her sister Shirley and her daughters Tammie and Christina at her side due to complications of MS at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarboro, Maine. She was born on September 11, 1938 in Houlton, daughter of Donville and Bessie (Hanning) Chase.
Georgina was a high honor student at Ricker Classical Institute, Class of 1956. Upon graduation, she went into the offices of the Putman Brothers law firm as their private secretary. In the fall, she decided to go to Zion Bible Institute in Rhode Island for a year. She was a great potato picker and harvester worker for years until MS took over her body.
She was an avid Yankee fan – win or lose, still a fan. When she was in the hospital, her daughter Tammie told her the Yankees were going to the world series, and she said “ah ha.” But now she knows Tammie lied to her; she knows they didn’t go anywhere.
She loved to read until a few years ago, but she loved her oldie but goodie shows on TV Land. She could relate to them rather than the shows of today. Her motto always was “waste not, want not” and her famous saying was “Well for the life of me.”
Georgina was a loving daughter, sister and mostly mother to her two daughters. She loved her stuffed animals, especially her cats and bears and her angel figurines.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the visiting nurses for the many years of wonderful care, to the Maine Medical Center and Clinic for all they did for her the many times she was there, and to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for the end of life care they provided for Gena. Everyone was so kind and thoughtful. Also thanks to the South Portland Fire & Rescue and Northeast for the many trips to the hospital with her and to Dunn Funeral Home for all they did to make her journey home as peaceful as possible.
Georgina is survived by her daughter, Tammie Fisk and Todd Oplinus; her daughter, Christina Jones; her grandson, Chance Fisk and Melissa; and new great-grandchild due in March; granddaughter, Jamie Choate and children, Bethaney and Aaron; her sister; Shirley and Edward Foley and family; her sister, Sherry Donhue and family, Dorothey Faullkner and family; her brother, Frank and Melanie Austin and family; and many cousins on both sides of the family. The family would also like to thank her good friend Marion Russell through the years of writing and keeping in touch with Gena. She was predeceased by her dad, Donville Chase in 1972 and her mom, Bessie Chase in 2009.
Friends called at the Dunn Funeral Home Saturday from 12 noon until the time of departure 12:45 p.m. to the Littleton Cemetery where graveside service was held with Rev. Wayne Robertson officiating. Gifts may be made in Georgina’s memory to the MS Foundation, c/o Dunn Funeral Home, 11 Park Street, Houlton, ME 04730. Online condolences and guest book: dunnfuneral.com.
