Veterans Day will be celebrated this Sunday in several communities in southern Aroostook County. The following is a list of those services that the Houlton Pioneer Times has been made aware of.
Houlton — A dedication ceremony for Maj. General Henry Merriam, Houlton’s only resident to ever be presented with the Congressional Medal of Honor, will take place at 10 a.m. at Monument Park. At 11 a.m., the American Legion Post No. 47 will hold its ceremony at Monument Park.
Stacyville — The Sherman Area VFW Ladies Auxiliary will hold a Veterans Day ceremony at the Post home in Stacyville at 2 p.m. All are welcome to attend this event to honor veterans. Refreshments and fellowship will follow.
