Junior Knights last home game is Saturday

A vastly improved Caribou Huskies team stayed with the undefeated (7-0) Houlton Junior Knights at Caribou for most of three quarters Saturday. The Knights were missing a couple of starters, but Coach Bill Alderson was not using any of that for an excuse calling the game “a real wake up call.”
The score was 19-14 in the third, when the Knights finally began to put it away with consecutive touchdown runs by Jacob Fox and Tyler Smith.  Smith, the bruising full back, scored five times on his birthday.
The Knight could not contain the Caribou outside rush that saw Wyatt Kennedy (three touchdowns) and Tray Caudill (two touchdowns) nearly set up the upset.
“I really want to congratulate Coach Taylor DeFelice on making this much-improved squad real competition for us,” said Alderson.
Sam Gerry and Jed Grant rounded out the scoring for Houlton, which plays their last home game of the season this Saturday at 11 a.m. at Ruth Field.
“I really hope the fans will come out and see the future of varsity football at Houlton High School, “said Alderson.  “But, we need to give a lot of credit to the boys on the team who are not in the Houlton district for this team’s success, as well.”
