Boy Scout Troop participates in Camporee

Boy Scout Troop 155, Hodgdon/Houlton, recently spent a weekend enjoying activities at the 50th International Moosehorn Camporee in Calais. There were close to 700 people that attended.
The boys had a number of activities to choose from such as astronomy, a night hike, fire building challenges, tomahawk throwing, blowguns, cooking without a stove or pans and various nature and forestry activities. A warden from North Woods Law brought his K9 out to do a demonstration.
Archery seemed to be the favorite activity followed by the refuge firefighter equipment demonstrations. The boys also seemed to be fascinated with the ham radio set up. They will have an opportunity to use the equipment in October when we attend the annual Jamboree on the air. Last year, the boys spoke to a Scouter in Germany.
Boy Scouts meet at 4 p.m. on Tuesdays at the American Legion. For more information call 694-0238.
