BU-CLR-Rotary-dcx2-pt-43The guest speaker at the Houlton Rotary Club on Oct. 15 was Doug Dieckman, middle, of Vocational Rehabilitation. Dieckman assists individuals who are disabled and are looking to find and be successful at employment. Dieckman assesses and matches individuals to certain job areas, develops goals and finds jobs for those individuals. Vocational Rehabilitation also employs job developers, where they find employers in the community to place individuals. On the job training is provided along with assisting with accommodations for success. Vocational rehabilitation partners with employers and businesses and will complete functional analysis to assist employers with finding qualified individuals. There are many benefits to both the employer and employee when they work closely with Vocational Rehabilitation, for example there are tax breaks for the employer and many of the employees are grateful for the opportunity to be employed and are very loyal. With Dieckman are Rotary Club President Ryan Bushey, left, and Art Meyers, Rotarian. For more information, contact him at 532-5316.
