MASARDIS – Clifford “Kip” Craig, 94, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday night, June 16, 2008, at his residence. He was born in Masardis on January 1, 1914, the son of Elsmore and Serena (Rockwell) Craig. 
“Kip” worked for a number of years at the starch factory in Ashland, and then he worked as a farm laborer on area farms. He loved horses and was a teamster in his younger years. He loved to fish, hunt, work in his garden, and read his Bible. “Kip” owned a 1946 Farmall H tractor, and truly enjoyed riding it. He was Masardis’ Oldest Citizen.
He is survived by two special nieces, Wendy Merrill Robinson and her husband Hollis of Masardis, and Vicki Merrill of Auburn; a brother, Bud Craig and his wife Martell of Auburn; two sisters, Ivy Merrill of Casco and Pearl Sampson of South Paris; two special great-nieces, Amy Hersey and her children Genevieve and Vivian, all of Casco, April LaPlante of Enterprise, AL. He was loved by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and by everyone who knew him. He was predeceased by four sisters, Mary Taylor, Hatty Turner, Ruby Craig and Idella Nickerson.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2008, at the Masardis Pentecostal Church with the Reverends Harry Soucy and Donald Morton Jr. officiating. Relatives and friends called noon until the time of service at the church. Donations may be made in his memory to the Gideon Bible International, P.O.
