    Houlton – Elizabeth “Betty” Spain, 87, died Sept. 12, 2012 at a local healthcare facility. She was born Sept. 5, 1925 at New Limerick, the daughter of Frederick and Rossie (Dempsey) Spain.
    Betty was a communicant of Saint Mary of the Visitation Church. She was a graduate of Ricker Classical Institute and the University of Maine, Orono with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1947. She was an avid follower of the Red Sox and liked cars especially Buicks.
    Betty is survived by many cousins, friends, Sisters of Mercy, Eldorine McNally, Patti Henderson and Ken and Vera Butler.
    A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Saint Mary of the Visitation Church with Rev. David Raymond celebrant. Interment was held in the New Limerick Cemetery.
