HOULTON & OAKFIELD – Nellie Bernice Curtis 81, passed away peacefully Sept. 9, 2012, with her family and very dear friend and caregiver Marcie Corsey by her side at Harmony House. She was born March 7, 1931, at Brownville, the daughter of Charles Sr. and Almoza (Larson) Curtis.
Nellie is survived by her daughter Barbara Tarr and her husband Warren of East Lyme, CT, two granddaughters Tammy Caruthers and her husband Bill of Powell, TN, Tina Stubbs and her husband Jay of East Lyme, CT; two great-grandsons Collin and Aiden Caruthers of Powell, TN; two brothers Donald Curtis and his wife Ann of East Holden, Charles Curtis, Jr. of Patten; four sisters Mabel Williams-Winship of Patten, Gladys Corneil of Oakfield, Marlene Grant and Rowena Dubois both of Island Falls; several nieces and nephews; special caregivers and friends Barney and Marcie Corsey and family; special friends “Old Don” Colburn and Elaine Paul. She was predeceased by her parents, her daughter Marilyn, brothers Douglas and Oscar, sisters Arlene and Mary Eldredge. Special thanks to the staff at Harmony House for Nellie’s good care and to all at Green Valley for their loving support throughout the past years. All were special to Nellie.
A celebration of Nellie’s life will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at Dunn Funeral Home. Graveside service will be announced at a later date.
