PRESQUE ISLE — A bicyclist sustained minor injuries when he came in contact with a car on Friday.
Officer Brian McQuarrie, of the Presque Isle Police Department, was assigned to investigate the accident, which occurred around 11:40 a.m. on Aug. 31.
“Melanie Thompson, 26, of Houlton, was turning right from the Portland Glass parking lot onto Main Street when she came in contact with bicyclist Michael Michaud, 27, of Presque Isle. Michaud was heading south on the sidewalk, against traffic,” said McQuarrie.
According to McQuarrie, Thompson said she didn’t see Michaud. Michaud was thrown from his bike, landing on the sidewalk. Two passing nurses stopped to assist until first responders arrived and took over.
Michaud, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported by Crown Ambulance to The Aroostook Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Both Michaud’s bicycle and Thompson’s Chevy Aveo sustained minor damage.
