HOULTON, Maine — First Baptist Church is kicking off the fall season with a series of free community-wide events.
Kids Fun Day, geared to children ages 12 years and younger, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 1-3 p.m. in the church parking lot located on 46 Court St. The rain date is Sept. 22. Featured attractions include a Monkey Bounce House, clowns and balloons, and Oreos and ice-cream. There will also be games, crafts and stories – something for everyone. All children in the community are invited.
The Second Annual Community Gospel Sing-along is scheduled for Saturday Sept. 15 from 1-3:30 p.m. in the church parking lot. In the event of rain, this activity will move inside the church. A variety of local talent will be performing including several soloists, a father-daughter duo, a unique and fun-loving string band and the well-known group, Heart of Praise. Light refreshments will be served. Mark your calendars and come help us make a joyful noise unto the Lord.
Senior Suppers, now in our eighth year, will be held on the third Thursday of each month, starting on Sept. 20 in Fellowship Hall at the church. Dinner is served at 5 p.m. and offered to those 62-years-old and their guests of any age. It’s a great time of fellowship and our cooks provide a variety of excellent dinners throughout the year. Please come and enjoy the evening.
For Teen Fun Night, we are offering pizza and a movie (Spiderman) scheduled for Friday, Sept. 28, starting at 5:30 p.m. All teens in the community are invited to an evening of delicious pizza, a fun movie and good fellowship.
Sunday School resumes on Sept. 9, for adults and on Sept. 16 for children. The adult class meets in the Ladies Parlor at 9 a.m. and will begin a study of Galatians. All are welcome. Children in Kindergarten through age 12 will be dismissed to Sunday School at approximately 10:30 a.m. following the children’s story during our 10 a.m. worship service. Junior and Senior High Sunday School will be held following the morning worship service from 11-11:30 a.m.
