Houlton United Methodist Church’s Blessing of the Backpacks

Sunday, Sept. 9 will mark the beginning of a new Sunday School year at Houlton United Methodist Church. The church is inviting children and their parents to join it for a continental breakfast at 9:15 a.m.
    During the 10 a.m. worship service, the church will observe the “Blessing of the Backpacks.”
“We are asking students of all ages to bring their school backpacks for a special blessing,” said Pastor Patrice Goodwin. “We want to pray for God’s blessing during the coming school year for all students, both traditional and non-traditional. We will also be recognizing and praying for all those who work in education in any capacity such as teachers, administrators, aides, custodians, lunchroom workers, bus drivers, or school board members. We want to be a source of support and encouragement for all those who attend or work in public, private, or home school settings.”
