Richard Small
SHERMAN — A Newport area man was taken into custody early Thursday morning after a shooting incident in the Waldo County town of Troy yesterday. Richard Small, 45, surrendered to the State Police tactical team at a home in Sherman in the pre-dawn hours. He is charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, reckless conduct with a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Troopers had been looking for Small since Aug. 8 when he confronted a homeowner in Troy at gunpoint and the gun went off, as the two struggled. No one was injured. The afternoon incident took place outside of a home on Bishop Road.
Small was tracked down during the night to Sherman and surrendered after troopers surrounded the house. He is being held on $50,000 bail at the Waldo County Jail.
