OAKFIELD, Maine — On Aug. 8, the Oakfield Bethel Pentecostal Church signed the deed giving the parcel of land to the Frank B. Holden Post 52 of the American Legion. The land is the future home of a Veterans Memorial sponsored by Post 52 to honor local veterans.
Patrick Hunt, attorney at law, drew up the deed for both parties, which was signed by the church board of trustees members Clark Mitchell, Billy Nadeau, David Sonderman and Eddie Lake with Rev. Sterling Lawrence looking on.
Legion members present were First Vice Commander Richard Burton, Finance Officer Kerry Bartlett, Post Historian Peter Drew, Service Officer/Adjutant Martha Dickinson and legion member Jim Burton.
Post 52 has been busy raising money for the Veterans Memorial and this land gift will help the Post fulfill its dream. The Post extends a huge thank you to Rev. Lawrence and the church board of trustees for this generous gift.
Rev. Lawrence gave a blessing on the lot.
Anyone wishing to help with the memorial may donate to “Veterans Memorial” Frank B. Holden Post 52, P.O Box 124, Oakfield, ME 04763.
