June 15-17, the American Lung Association held its 27th annual Trek Across Maine. This 180-mile bicycle trip from Bethel to Belfast is the ALA’s largest fundraiser in the state. Participants raise money to support the ALA and advocate for lung health. Two locals from the town of Merrill, Morgan Gustin and her father Randy Gustin, took part in this recent event, riding among this year’s total of 2,095 cyclists.
Randy Gustin has ridden in the Trek for 13 years, while the rest of his family cheered him on from the sidelines. Last year, his daughter joined him for her first Trek experience, and this year the father-daughter pair took on the challenge once again. With over 800 miles of training rides under their belts this spring, they were thrilled to participate in the recent Trek Across Maine.

“I couldn’t think of a better way to spend such an awesome weekend,” said Morgan. “Most of all, I love the time with my dad, riding for an amazing cause.”
The Gustins extend a special ‘thank you’ to all their family, friends, and local businesses that have supported them.
