HOULTON, Maine — Houlton High School has announced three students, Victoria Hanson, Allyson Carmichael and Kole Buzzeo, have been selected to attend the 2012 New England Student Leadership conference.
The second annual conference will be held at Stonehill College, in North Easton, Mass., July 19-22. The Maine Principal’s Association sponsors the trip, which enables about 40 Maine high school sophomores and juniors to attend. The conference brings together student leaders from all over New England to focus on respect, positive values, perspectives, sportsmanship, teamwork, healthy lifestyles, community service and self evaluation.
Hanson and Woods attended the conference last year, along with teacher Tim Tweedie. All three attendees found the conference to be a tremendous opportunity for student leadership training. Hanson, being a sophomore last year, was afforded the opportunity to attend a second time to continue her work in the area of student leadership. She is very involved in the new student mentor initiative taking place at Houlton High School. Houlton High School is proud and excited to have three outstanding students get this opportunity.
