This year saw record low water and slower times for the Kenduskeag Stream Canoe race.
East Grand School’s Tammi Matula and Kenneth Winiarski took second place in the Senior/Junior division and finished with a time of 4:11:09. Veteran outdoor education student Allen McEwen paddled with Philip Farley for fourth place in the Senior/Junior division in a time of 4:17:03.
Taking first place in the men’s medium recreational division were Mitchell Bartlett and Dave Conley, paddling the course in a time of 3:54:25.
This weekend, East Grand students will be racing on the Machias River. The race is 11 miles long with two class III rapids, carrot rips and airline rapids.
