HRH recognizes volunteers

In recognition of the many hours and contributions devoted throughout the year by hospital volunteers, the Volunteer Department of Houlton Regional recently held its 27th annual volunteer luncheon.
The theme was “HRH Volunteers Have That Magic Touch”. Over the past year, 13,593 hours have been donated by volunteers at the hospital. Since the department began in 1984, volunteers have donated 288,837 hours of service at the hospital.
There are currently 85 volunteers providing services at Houlton Regional Hospital with over 30 different departments utilizing their services. Some of the jobs done by volunteers include spending quality time with residents, reading to patients as well as entertaining them, helping to put supplies away, assisting in laundry or ringing up a sale in our gift shop, as well as many clerical duties, special projects and greeting our patients and visitors at the information desk.
Hospital volunteers play a very important role in our hospital team. “It’s so nice to work with people that enjoy giving back to their community hospital.  They are truly appreciated by all”, said Patrice Lunnie, Volunteer Manager.
