Several local paddlers competed in the Passagassawaukeag River Race last Saturday in Morrill, with Jeff Sands of Bangor coming in first with a time of 32:45.
Clint Cushman of Hodgdon and Peter Blood of Houlton were ninth overall, but first in the Century Rec Division. The duo crossed the finish line in a time of 37:39.
East Grand students Mitchell Bartlett of Danforth and Kenneth Winiarski of Forest Township paddled to a fourth-place finish in the high school division, with a time of 44:57, while Chelsea Winiarski of Forest Township and Kim Stoddard of Danforth finished sixth with a time of 57:27.
Rounding out the high school division from East Grand, Adreanna Phillips and Philip Farley were seventh in a time of 58:23, while Bayleigh Rowe and Cassidy Woo crossed the line with a time of 59:20 for a eighth-place finish.
Dave Conley of Weston, East Grand Outdoor Education instructor, teamed with James Berry of Weston and finished seventh in the OC2RM division with a time of 48:50.
