Michael Ross, son of Jon and Leslie Ross of Houlton, has qualified to represent Houlton Southside School at the state level of the National Geographic Bee, sponsored by Google and Plum Creek. The state Bee will be Friday, March 30 at the University of Maine-Farmington. One winner from each state and territory will advance to the national competition May 22-24 at the National Geographic Society headquarters in Washington, D.C. Transportation and accommodations for the national trip are provided for each state winner and a teacher-escort. The National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo Wild will air the final round of the 2012 National Geographic Bee on Thursday, May 24.
