ISLAND FALLS — Two Hancock County men were arrested Friday evening in connection with a bank robbery at the Katahdin Trust Bank in Island Falls March 6.
According to Steve McCausland, public safety spokesperson for the Maine State Police, Joseph Fallica, 21, of Trenton and Clinton Michaud, 22, of Ellsworth were arrested around 5 p.m. at the state police barracks in Ellsworth.
Assistant District Attorney Kurt Kafferlin said both individuals had their initial court appearances Monday and were charged with robbery (a class B crime) and theft (a class C crime).
The cases have been set for status conferences on July 18. Bail was set at either $50,000 surety or $10,000 cash. As of Tuesday morning, both men remain in the Aroostook County Jail.
McCausland said tire tracks from the getaway vehicle at the scene were used to identify the suspects. The tracks found at the scene were traced to a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee belonging to Michaud’s girlfriend, who was not charged in the case.
According to McCausland, the robbery occurred around noon on March 6 when a lone man dressed entirely in black, came into the bank and demanded money. The subject left with $3,000, none of which was recovered, according to police.
