Did you ever just want to take a weekend and catch up on your scrapbooking? Well, SCRAPS of Houlton is offering another Scrapmania weekend, Friday from 4 p.m. until midnight and Saturday from 8 a.m. to around 6:30 p.m., at the Full Gospel Assembly on outer Court Street.
A scrapmania is held every other month and SCRAPS has been sponsoring the event for two years.
Scrapmania allows scrapbookers to rent a table for the weekend to work on their scrapbooks away from the hustle and bustle. A two-day rental is $15 or $10 for one day.
“Scrapbookers can leave their stuff on tables and come back the next day,” said Dina Smith. “It’s a big potluck dinner — share if you want, but you don’t have to.”
On Saturday, scrapbookers can take advantage of a class instructed by Deb Henderson on “Stampin’ Up.”
“We learn techniques from each other and have a great time,” added Smith.
Also during the event, a grand prize basket is given away, along with door prizes — and everyone gets at least one. The grand prize is a Smash Book Kit, the newest rave in scrapbooking.
“It’s a great way to save those little things that mean so much,” Smith said. “Like movie tickets, fortune cookie sayings and special items that just don’t quite fit into a traditional scrapbook.”
To sign up, call SCRAPS at 532-0810 Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or call Smith at 521-4652.
