HOULTON — “My work is neither photograph, nor painting, but is somehow both at the same time,” said Bill Duncan during his gallery talk on Friday evening to a group of about 24 guests and friends of SACAP’s Blue Moon Gallery.
The exhibit of paintings by William Lloyd Duncan of Madawaska Lake, Maine, is now showing at Blue Moon Gallery at Visions, 66 Main St. The show, entitled Wandering Maine and New Brunswick: Landscape and Community, is a collection of oil pastel paintings on photographs taken around the state and province. The public reception and gallery talk was Jan. 6.
Duncan gives details of his technique, “Painting becomes both a subtractive process: covering the detailed texture of the photographic image, and an additive process: painting with hand-drawn lines and textures.”
