First Baptist Church receives $100,000 gift

As individuals and organizations struggle in these financially-challenging times, we sometimes forget that God still blesses those who honor Him. First Baptist Church was greatly blessed recently with an unexpected Christmas present of $100,000, given in honor and memory of Jennie Crabbe by her son, Richard.
Jennie was a devoted long-time member of First Baptist Church until her death in 2003. She is described by those who knew her as a sweet woman and devoted mother, thoughtful of everyone and highly regarded. Jennie was active in the church women’s True Blue Circle, volunteering her time and talents to folding and rolling bandages for war-torn countries, cooking, and knitting and crocheting dozens of mittens and hats of all sizes for the church’s annual craft fair.
Crabbe requested that the money be used for building maintenance and construction and that any such projects employ local contractors. As a church family, we thank Richard for his generosity, pray that God will bless him and also bless those local contractors we will hire in the coming years as we maintain a church that will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2013, Lord willing.
