Local hoop teams to play in County preseason tournaments

    Local high school basketball teams will be participating in several preseason tournaments.
GHCA in Fort Fairfield
    The fourth annual Fort Fairfield Preseason Invitational Basketball Tournament will be held this weekend.
    Teams featured include Greater Houlton Christian Academy, Fort Fairfield, Limestone/MSSM, Easton and Van Buren.
    The preseason tournament opens Friday afternoon when the Limestone/MSSM girls face Easton at 3:30 p.m., followed by the Limestone boys hosting Greater Houlton Christian Academy at 4:45 p.m. The night session kicks off with the Fort Fairfield girls taking on Van Buren at 6 p.m., followed by the Fort Fairfield boys against Van Buren at 7:15 p.m.
    Saturday features a full slate of ball games, starting at 10 a.m. with the Fort Fairfield girls going against Easton; 11:15 a.m., Fort Fairfield boys matchup with GHCA; 12:30 p.m., Van Buren girls host Limestone/MSSM and at 1:45 p.m., the Van Buren boys meet Limestone/MSSM.
    At 3:30 p.m., the Easton girls square off against Van Buren, followed by the GHCA boys facing Van Buren at 4:45 p.m. The Fort Fairfield girls and  boys will have the last two games of the night against Limestone/MSSM at 6 and 7:15 p.m
Hodgdon at Lee Academy
    The Hodgdon varsity girls and boys will play in Lee Academy Tip Off Classic Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2 and Dec. 3.
    Teams featured in the preseason tournament include Hodgdon, Lee, Mattanawcook Academy, Woodland and Piscataquis Community High School.
    The preseason tournament will run by regulation high school rules, with a concession stand available. On Friday, the cost is $3 adult and $2 student (K-12) and senior citizens. A $10 fee will be charged for a family. On Saturday, the cost of tickets goes to $4 adult, $2 student (K-12) and senior citizens and $10 for a family.
    The schedule of games is as follows:
    Friday, Dec. 2: Hodgdon boys open against Calais at 4 p.m., followed by the Hodgdon girls facing Calais at 5:10 p.m. Lee Academy boys and girls take on Calais and Mattanawcook Academy at 6:20 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively.
    Saturday, Dec. 3: Lee Academy girls open the day against Hodgdon at 10:20 a.m., followed by Lee Academy boys and Hodgdon at 11:30 a.m.
    In the afternoon session, Mattanawcook Academy girls play Hodgdon at 12:40 p.m., while Woodland boys match up with Hodgdon at 1:50 p.m.; Mattanawcook Academy girls take on Calais at 3 p.m. and Woodland boys face PCHS at 4:10 p.m.
    In the evening session, PCHS girls go against Calais at 5:20 p.m., followed by PCHS boys and girls against Lee Academy at 6:30 p.m. and 7:40 p.m., respectively.
Houlton girls at CAHS; boys in Washburn
    The Houlton Lady Shires will play a preseason girls’ basketball tournament at Central Aroostook High School Dec. 5-6.
    Teams participating include Houlton, Wisdom, Ashland, Madawaska, Washburn and Central Aroostook.
    Playing Monday, Dec. 5 will be Wisdom/Ashland at 5 p.m., followed by Madawaska/Washburn at 6:30 p.m. and CAHS hosts Houlton at 8 p.m.
    On Tuesday, Dec. 6, Houlton will play Wisdom at 5 p.m., while Ashland/Madawaska meet at 6:30 p.m. and Washburn/CAHS finish the night at 8 p.m.
    The Houlton High School boys will participate in a preseason tournament in Washburn Dec. 5-6, along with the host team, Easton, Ashland, Madawaska and Central Aroostook.
    The preseason tournament begins on Monday, Dec. 5 when Easton/Ashland match up at 5 p.m., followed by Central Aroostook/Houlton at 6 p.m. and Madawaska/Washburn at 8 p.m.
    To start the night out on Tuesday, Dec. 6, Ashland/Madawaska will play at 5 p.m., followed by CAHS/Easton at 6:30 p.m. and Houlton /Washburn close out the games at 8 p.m.
