Health Services Foundation kicks off 11th annual diamond raffle campaign

HOULTON — “A Change of Pace” that will include color, and something for men for the very first time, is what the Health Services Foundation will offer with this year’s annual diamond raffle.
In its second decade of supporting healthcare, the diamond raffles have offered many different cut stones and this year will be no exception by stepping out in “A Change of Pace” with a 1 carat princess cut diamond ring set with two sapphire side stones on a beautiful 14kt white gold band to take center stage.
There will be a total of five jewelry pieces to include: for her, the ring; for him, a Citizens Eco Drive, perpetual calendar, alarm, dual time watch; a dual stone Maine Watermelon Tourmaline pendant; a Susan Komen Pink Breast Cancer Watch, with diamonds; and large oval white gold hoop earrings with diamonds on the outside as well as the inside of the hoop. In all, $8,800 worth of prizes will be raffled for five lucky winners.
Only 750 tickets will be available at $20 each. With five generous prizes and a limited amount of tickets available there is a good chance they will go quickly. Tickets make great, and exciting “Stocking Stuffers”, said Elizabeth Dulin, Foundation Executive Director.
All jewelry items may be seen and tickets purchased at Goodrich Jewelry on the North Road, Houlton, The Foundation Office, located on the main floor of Houlton Regional Hospital or by calling the Foundation Office at 521-2503 for further information and credit card sales; all major credit cards accepted. Winner is responsible for all taxes. To read all about what the Foundation is doing and those serving as trustees visit www.healthservicesfoundation.org.
“We wish to express our deepest appreciation to the following for their generosity in support of this event and being our Dazzling Diamond Sponsors; Goodrich’s, Animal Hospital of Houlton, First Choice Real Estate, Houlton Tire Company, Houlton Water Company, Paradis Shop ‘n Save, and Two Sisters Trollbeads,” Dulin said. “We truly appreciate their generosity in support of this event.”
Proceeds from this years raffle will not only support wrapping up the Foundation’s campaign for digital mammography, but also general Houlton Regional Hospital equipment needs throughout the Foundation’s 2012 fiscal year. For the last several years, campaigns have been waged in support of some very ambitious radiology needs for HRH, such as state–of-the-art nuclear medicine equipment, radiology department expansion project and now digital mammography. This fiscal year, it was asked if we would do a general hospital needs campaign thereby giving department managers the possibility of being able to acquire items they might not otherwise be able to have. Foundation board members voted to support that campaign, as we know this will help our hospital acquire additional equipment to benefit all those who use Houlton Regional.
With regard to the breast cancer campaign women, and men who face the reality of a new breast cancer diagnosis, having access to the latest breast cancer screening technology is significant, since it gives doctors detailed information about the size and location of abnormalities. This equipment will provide great relief to high-risk patients and their families as they will not longer need to make long and difficult trips to a facility which offers the digital screenings they must have.
The general equipment campaign will be delightful to get underway as keeping our hospital operating at optimum levels is always an important priority for all those in our communities who must use HRH for their medical needs and newer or additional equipment will be welcomed by HRH departments.
The Health Services Foundation always wishes to play a big part, in our small corner of the world and do everything we can to support our mission of “Excellence in Healthcare” for all Those We Serve,” Dulin said.
