The Houlton Recreation Department has announced its hours and ongoing activities for the week of Wednesday, Nov. 16.
Open Gym and Game Room hours
Grades 2-12: Wed., Nov. 16 2:45-5 p.m., Thurs., Nov. 17 2:45-5 p.m.,
Fri., Nov. 18, 2:45-5 p.m., Sat., Nov. 19 1-4 p.m., Sun. Nov. 20 1-4 p.m.,
Mon., Nov. 21 2:45-5 p.m. and Tues., Nov. 22 2:45-5 p.m.
Weekly activities:
Walking — Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free to all participants.
Men’s Open Gym — Each Monday and Wednesday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Cost is $2 per person, must be 18 years of age or older and out of high school to participate.
Women’s Open Gym — Each Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Cost is $2 per person, must be 18 years of age or older and out of high school to participate.
Parent & Tot Time — Each Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30-10 a.m. These unstructured times give parents and tot the chance to meet new friends. Some toys will be provided, but you may bring your own. Free to all participants.
Rug Hooking — Each Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring your rug hooking project and a bag lunch.
Rules and general information
Adult and youth supervisors are provided at all open gym and game room hours. Children in grade 1 or younger must be with an adult to be at the recreation center for open hours.
An adult must accompany any youth in grade 6 or younger to stay past 5 p.m., unless he/she is attending a scheduled activity. During evening hours, once inside the building he/she must stay in!
Parents will be notified if a youth is asked to leave the recreation center due to bad or inappropriate behavior. There is a phone available to call home for rides.
Most games cost 50 cents to play in game room. Games include ping pong, bumper and regular pool, air hockey, bubble hockey and foosball.
The rec center’s open gym and game room hours may change due to scheduled activities. To check on the day’s hours, please call 532-1310.
28th annual Houlton Winter Crafts and Gifts Fair
The Houlton Recreation Department will be sponsoring its 28th Annual Houlton Winter Crafts and Gifts Fair on Friday, Nov. 25 from 11-5 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fair will be held at the Gentle Memorial Building. Admission is free to the public and there will be more than 55 different crafters at the fair. For more information, contact the rec at 532-1310.
