Tuesday is Election Day as voters head to the polls to cast their ballots across the state. A new law this year allows towns with a population of less than 500 people to have their polls open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., while towns with more than 500 people must be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Another new wrinkle to this year’s voting practices deals with absentee ballots. This year, absentee ballots must be requested and picked up at local town offices by Thursday, Nov. 3. Ballots may be returned after that date, but no ballots will be given out after that date.
Towns with a population less than 2,500 were also no longer required to advertise their poll times as legal notices.
