    Rankin, Elizabeth I., 54, September 11, 2011.
LUDLOW – Elizabeth Rankin, 54, passed away on September 11, 2011. Liz was born Elizabeth Iona Winters on September 4, 1957 in Redwood City, CA to Iona and Ronald Winters.
She attended Ohlone College and received her AA Degree in Journalism. After working as a journalist for a local newspaper for several years, she moved to Nashua, NH and worked in a law office while she pursued a dream of becoming a stage actress.
She returned to CA to try her hand as a singer. Having only limited commercial success with her bands, she decided she needed more than an AA degree to further herself and applied to Wellesley College in MA and was awarded a full scholarship. During her tenure at Wellesley College, she became ill with severe vertigo. Her doctors, at the time, could never figure out what was causing the vertigo, which we now know was the beginning of her MS.
Liz returned to CA where she met her husband, Ron. He says within one minute, he knew he had just met his soul-mate. Liz and Ron eloped to Reno and were married two months to the day after they met.
With Liz’s MS showing signs of worsening and Ron’s job being phased out, Liz and Ron decided to move to a quieter area and found a little slice of heaven in Ludlow. She became a member of the Shiretown Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Ron Rankin; her mother and father-in-law, James and Elli Rankin; step-daughter Alyssa Rankin; sister-in-law and her husband, Pamela and Dr. George Ziemiek; and her stepmother, Kathy Winters.
A memorial service was held at Shiretown Baptist Church on October 18.
