It’s that time of year again … time to scare up some fun. Although the annual high-fright event could be considered just another way to lure kids and adults into a good scare, this event is special. It is planned and organized by high school boys and this year’s proceeds will benefit the Southern Aroostook Senior class.
“This is the third year, and each year they do more and more of the planning.” said Bob King, administrator of the RACE program. “The RACE team consists of high school boys who use their knowledge and gifts to plan events like this or provide community services.”
The Asylum is scheduled for Oct. 29, from 6-9:30 p.m. It is held at “Brave Hearts,” also known as Milliken Hospital, in Island Falls on 66 Sherman St. Each admission of $5 includes the tour as well as fun treats to enjoy while awaiting the fun.
“The boys have managed to keep costs down by having the treats and a lot of the decorations provided by friends of the program. Each year, ladies from the community come in and decorate the upstairs and provide the great snacks for the event. Without this help, the profits would be minimal and not worth the time and effort.
