HOULTON — Houlton’s Community Arts fund-raising effort received a generous boost from Bangor Savings Bank Oct. 5 in the form of a $2,000 donation to the cause.
“Bangor Savings Bank has a long history of community involvement and we are especially proud of the employees who volunteer their time, skills and knowledge and share the same commitment to their community,” said Carol Colson, senior vice president and director of marketing and community relations.

Taking part in the presentation are, from left, Kris Nickerson, regional market manager for Bangor Savings Bank; Torrey Sylvester, Communty Arts representative; and Brenda Richards, assistant branch manager.
Employees from the Houlton branch held an internal contest and the regional winners received funds to distribute to local non-profit projects of their choice.
“We are extremely pleased for this donation because we are now entering Phase II of our fund-raising campaign,” said Torrey Sylvester, fundraising coordinator for the Community Arts project. “Every little bit helps.”
The Bangor Savings Bank donation follows a $10,000 donation by Yorks of Houlton this past summer.
