STACYVILLE — The third annual Stacyville Pumpkin Festival is gearing up for a busy weekend of excitement Saturday Oct. 15 from noon to 7 p.m.
Held at the former school lot on U.S. Route 11 between Sherman and Patten, this year’s festival features many of the same events that proved popular last year, according to organizer Linda Smith.
“Pumpkin carving, face painting, carriage rides, music and a bouncy house will all be available,” Smith said. “The children’s costume parade begins at 3 p.m., with all ages welcome. Everyone who participates will get a goodie bag. Prizes for funniest, most original and best all-around.”
Pumpkin carving will take place as well, but participants are reminded to bring their own pumpkins.
Children’s games and crafts take place from 3:30-5:30 p.m. A raffle drawing follows at 6 p.m. and the light parade begins at 6:30 p.m. To register for the parade, call Smith at 365-6108.
“The pumpkin lighting will be right after the parade,” Smith said.
Afterwards, Katahdin High School’s Project Graduation volunteers will be selling concessions. A high school dance will also be held on Friday, Oct. 14 at the Sherman Rec. Center from 7-11 p.m. for grades 9-12. Admission is $5. All proceeds go to the Pumpkin Festival.
There is no cost to attend the pumpkin festival.
