    The playoffs are just around the corner, as the last countable regular-season game is Oct. 18, with preliminaries beginning Oct. 21 and 22.
    Last week’s action found the Houlton Lady Shires (ranked fifth in Class C) losing to Calais on Monday, but picking up two wins earlier over Schenck, 6-0 and Mattanawcook Academy, 4-1.
    On Monday in Calais, the Lady Shires were blanked 2-0, as the Blue Devils scored in each half of the game.
    Marina Cameron turned back 12 of 17 shots, including two penalty kicks, while Calais’ Paige Gillespie stopped 10 of 15 shots.

    At East Millinocket last Tuesday, Mikaelah Tracy, Amanda Fogarty, Tori Hanson, Bre Longstaff, Alana Pratt and Madeline Anderson all scored a goal in the shutout win.
    Houlton goalie Cameron made seven saves on nine shots, while Schenck goalie, Kristin Thompson had 14 saves on 19 shots.
    On Thursday, the Lady Shires were hosted by Mattanawcook Academy in Lincoln, coming away with a 4-1 victory behind Fogarty’s three first-half tallies. Finishing the scoring was Tracy with a second-half goal. Assists were made by Pratt and Fogarty.
    Goalie Cameron stopped seven of nine shots faced.
    The Lynx scored in the second half on a penalty kick, while goalie Taylor Blood had 16 saves on 23 shots.

    In Houlton boys’ action, the Shiretowners topped Schenck, 4-0 last Wednesday at home.
    Kyle Bouchard scored and assisted on a goal to lead the Shiretowners, while Lucas Anderson, Brandon Ward and Nick Guiod also added a tally.
    Goalie Kole Buzzeo had two saves in the game, while Schenck’s Jarrod Albert stopped 20 of 30 shots faced.
    Last Friday, the Shiretowners defeated host Mattanawcook Academy, 5-0.
    The Southern Aroostook teams were busy last week, as the girls had three games and the boys two.

    In girls’ play last Saturday, the Lady Warriors topped Penobscot Valley, 4-2, behind Katelyn Goodall’s hat trick and Jillian Diaferio’s single marker. SACS goalie Mallory Lawlor set back seven of 14 shots.
    Last Friday at home, the Lady Warriors hosted Central Aroostook of Mars Hill, with SACS edging their opponent, 2-1.
    Diaferio and Katie Prescott provided the goals for the Lady Warriors, while Goodall added an assist. Lawlor came up with 11 saves on 12 shots faced.
    Marissa Anthony scored for CAHS on a Sarah Grass assist. Vickie McIntyre and Paige Garrison combined for 10 saves on 12 shots between the posts.

    At home last Tuesday, the Lady Warriors powered by visiting East Grand, 4-0, behind Desirae Dubois’ three goals. Goodall added a single goal, while Lawlor stopped three of three shots.
    For East Grand, Jayne Cousins had 12 saves on 16 shots.
    In boys’ action, the SACS Warriors toppled the visiting Panthers, 3-1 last Friday.
    Patrick Goodall and Cody Lassonde each scored and assisted on a goal, while Parker Walker notched a tally for the winners. Goalie Jesse Boulier had six saves on 11 shot attempts.

    For CAHS, Dan Brewer scored their lone goal, as goalie Ross Grass had six saves on 14 shots.
    Last Tuesday, the Warriors rolled over visiting East Grand, 5-0, with two markers from Goodall, along with single tallies from Taylor Locke, Lassonde and Matt Tarr.
    Between the posts, Will McGary had three saves on four shots for Southern Aroostook.
    For East Grand, goalie Alex Brittain made 11 saves on 27 shots
    The Katahdin Cougars picked up two more losses on the season last week to Hodgdon, 2-0 and PVHS, 3-2.
sp-SACAg-dc3-pt-41    At Howland, the Penobscot Valley Howlers had a 3-1 halftime lead and held on for the win.
    Forrest Heath and Wyatt Morse supplied Katahdin’s two goals, while goalie Jesse McNally had 18 saves against 29 shots.
    For PVHS, Griffin Libby stopped 12 of 14 shots.
    At Stacyville last Tuesday, Hodgdon’s Brandon Malone scored the game-winner in the first half off Shiloh Bond’s assist, as the Hawks topped the Cougars, 2-0.
    Josh Hudson finished with a second-half goal on a Keegan Gardner assist, while goalie Chris Hudson made 12 saves on 19 shots for the Hawks.
    For Katahdin, McNally rejected 10-of-13 shots.
    The East Grand Lady Vikings traveled to Woodland last Thursday and came home with a 4-2 win. No game information was available at presstime.
