Jesse and Jason Ryan remembered
A little over one year ago our school community tragically lost one of our students, Jesse Ryan. His classmates and parents received donations to buy a granite bench in his memory. The bench was placed in the circle in front of school where other trees and rocks have been placed in memory of other special people in our school community.
Jason DeHahn, a past student and father of one of our students, was also taken from us during the same tragedy. A “weeping caragana” tree was planted near the bench in memory of Jason. Jesse’s classmates and Jason’s relatives were able to spend a few moments remembering them.
All other donations which were given in Jesse’s and Jason’s memory will be given to the Ark Animal Sanctuary. Both Jesse and Jason had a great love for animals.
Afterschool News
Mill Pond’s 21st CCLC Afterschool program is off and running for its 11th year. Attendance is averaging 70 students daily. Our program runs each Monday through Thursday from dismissal to 4:45 p.m. Any student in Kindergarten through grade eight is welcome to attend without cost. We focus our first hour on academic tutoring and enrichment in many different areas.
The second half of our program time is used for making crafts, honing up chess skills, learning to program Lego robots, cooking, game playing, and a multitude of other offerings. In the weeks to come, we hope to highlight different happenings involving our A.S.K. (After School Kids).
Have a safe and fruitful harvest!
