    Lilley, Ethel A., 87, September 30, 2011.  Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls.
    SMYRNA – Ethel A. Lilley, 87, died Sept. 30, 2011, in Patten. She was born Sept. 20, 1924, in Woodstock, New Brunswick, the daughter of Percy A. and Isadore “Dollie” (Robinson) Alanthwaite.
    Ethel was a life member of Aroostook Riding Club.
    She is survived by their only child, Carman Lilley and his wife, Julie; five grandchildren, Zachary, Connor, Sam, Nate and Tessa, who is the apple of her eye; and a nephew, Richard “Rickie” Alanthwaite of Hong Kong, whom she considered another son. She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Roger Allison Lilley; and her only sibling, Richard Arthur Alanthwaite.
    A special thanks to Stella Nickerson for her years of friendship, assistance and her chauffeuring, and to cousin, Cathy Mathers Bates, Ethel’s niece, who was of great help in the last months. The family cannot express their gratitude strongly enough for the care and support provided by the staff at Mount Heights Health Care Facility, Patten.
