HOULTON, Maine — The Ark Animal Sanctuary will host its annual “Strut Your Mutt” walk for people and their pets on Saturday, Sept. 17, starting in front of the Hollywood Pet Salon on 70 Main St. The walk will send people to the Ark Animal Sanctuary property on Old Woodstock Road and back, where a lunch will be served.
Registration starts at 9 a.m., with the walk beginning at 10 a.m. The entry fee is $5. Participants are encouraged to walk or run at their own pace. Having a pet is not mandatory. The course is about four miles long and rest stops will be located along the course. A shuttle will also be available for those who cannot finish the walk.
Free T-shirts will be given to the first 25 paid participants. Prizes will also be awarded. Those that raise $150 in pledges will get an event sweatshirt. Registration sheets are available at Hollywood Pet Salon and online at www.arksanctuary.com. The event will be held rain or shine.
