The Louisiana-Pacific Foundation, the charitable arm of Louisiana-Pacific Corporation, has awarded a $2,000 grant to St. Mary’s Food Pantry and $1,000 for Houlton Elementary School.
“These grants will help lessen the blow of tough economic times in our community,” said Travis Turner, LP plant manager.
The grants are part of the LP Foundation’s 2011 Community Relief program designed to help non-profit organizations and public schools in LP communities cope with increased demand for their services at a time when overall charitable giving is down.

The grants were coordinated through LP’s laminated strand lumber mill in Houlton.
The St. Mary’s grant will be used to buy food while the school grant will help buy jackets, boots and other winter clothes for needy students.
“This is a great opportunity to give much needed winter clothing items to our local community youth,” said Ryan Bushey, LP’s human resource manager.
