ZEPHYRHILLS, FLA. – Mildred V. Rhoda, 92, of Zephyrhills, Fla., passed away August 18, 2011. She was born November 14, 1918, in Lindsay, New Brunswick, Canada.
She was a homemaker and was an avid cook. She was a member of the Tourist Club in Zephyrhills, where she enjoyed dancing with her many friends. She was also a member of Saint Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church and was involved with the Episcopal Woman’s Club.
Ms. Rhoda was predeceased by her loving husband, Fred; daughter, Betty Griffin; three brothers; and one sister. Survivors include her son, Fred Jr.; sister, Avis Chambers of Hartland, New Brunswick; grandsons, Tony Alonso, Dustin Reed, Larry Griffin and Gary Griffin; granddaughter, Candace Viola Rhoda; and great-grandsons, Colin and Luke Griffin.
A service took place at 4 p.m. August 27, 2011, at Saint Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church, 5855 16th Street, Zephyrhills, FL 33542. Burial followed at Floral Memory Gardens in Dade City, Fla. A visitation took place one hour prior to service.
Mildred “Gram” was a kind and loving soul who enjoyed caring and cooking for others. Her warm smile and positive outlook welcomed all who met and shared her company. She treasured her friends and was a blessing to her family. Her faith in God and her Christian character sustained and supported her. While she will be greatly missed and long remembered here, “we are confident she has found peace and rest above.”
