MERIDEN, CT – Earl F. Green received his prayers and wishes and went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011. His humorous and easygoing nature touched many.
Born in New Brunswick, Canada, on Feb. 11, 1919, he split his lifetime of 92 years living and working in Aroostook County, Maine, potato farming and as a woodsman. He attended BCA in Bridgewater, Maine, and moved to Connecticut in the ’50s where he was employed by Schwink’s Dairy, and eventually retiring from Insilco.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Effie; daughter, Nancy and Bob Thiede; son, Kevin and Rose Green; and sister, Edie and Joe Manley; six grandchildren, Karl and Carla Thiede, Roxanne Thiede, John and Lucinda Thiede, Kevin, Kyle and Lyndsi Green; three great-grandchildren, Brianna Green, James and Crystal Kolman; and several nieces and nephews. Earl was predeceased by a son, Edward; and six sisters and brothers, Helen McCleary, Margerie Dyer, Evelyn Lucia, Paul (Pete), Merle and Guy Green.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Coccomo Health Care in Meriden for their compassionate care of Earl in the past year.
There are no calling hours. There will be a private graveside service at Gethsemane Cemetery with the family. Should friends desire, contributions in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
