To the editor:
As a resident of Mars Hill, Living within a few thousand feet of the windmills, I deem it utterly impossible not to respond to Anthony Albert’s letter of April 30.
First of all, I challenge Mr. Albert to live near such atrocities and remain of the same opinion. How very naïve you appear to be that by parking at the site you can make an accurate sound check and report such evidence as being fact. Many factors need to be taken into consideration prior to such an analysis: What time of the day was it? Was the wind blowing? Which direction were the turbines facing? Did you speak to any residents personally? Perhaps we could have invited you to visit our home on a windy night.
Mr. Albert contends that wind farms have brought nothing but good to our county. What? Define good. As citizens we are not even reaping the benefits of the energy. Where is the energy going and why are our utility rates going up?
It’s very disturbing to me that “big business” has perpetrated such crimes against humanity and then brainwashed us into believing their lies. Money is the focus; capital gain is primary. Wind mills, atomic power, it’s all the same. Just not in my back yard.
Mr. Albert, it’s great that you live in a place that you can call the windmills “pretty” from your window. You insult what could once be called “pretty” from mine.
