The “Just For Kids” summer playground children sponsored by the Houlton Recreation Department will be holding their annual Peanut Parade and Carnival. The Parade is set for Wednesday, Aug. 3, at 10 a.m. through downtown Houlton.
The Peanut Carnival will be held on Thursday, Aug. 4, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Pleasant Street tennis courts. In case of rain, the event will be held inside the Gentle Memorial Building.
The highlight of the evening will be the crowning of the 2011 Peanut King & Queen at 8 p.m. in the Houlton Rec Center gym. Last year’s royalty, King Troy Hipsley and Queen Aliya Sabattis-Webber, will do the honors.
