To the editor:
When Superintendent [John] Doe reports his intentions of cutting the budget by not hiring teachers to open positions, I become worried. We have a newly formed RSU that has saved the participating municipalities money by avoiding state-mandated fines, not purchasing a bus, and other items that really haven’t saved us a dime.
How about the $400-a-day interim superintendent salary? Why does a person who requires a salary of this magnitude need a business manager? Why does the business manger get paid nearly six figures? Why does the business manager need an accounts payable clerk and an accounts receivable clerk?
Maybe we should delete all but the superintendent and canvas the community to find a person who can manage this small business for less. The purpose of forming an RSU was to save on administrative costs. Looks to me like a big ball of something is rolling down the hill and it stinks. Maybe before the school board submits its next budget, they should consider why we are an RSU in the first place.
