Katahdin Valley picks up second loss

    The Katahdin Valley All-stars were eliminated from the 11-12-year-old District 3 Tournament with a 16-2 loss to Holbrook on Monday in Patten.
    The team was 1-1 entering the game.
    Holbrook jumped to an early lead and never looked back.
    For Katahdin, Nate Lilley hit a two-run single, while Dalton Hartt tripled and Thomas Prescott singled and scored.
    Earlier, the Katahdin all-stars topped Lincoln, 12-6 in Patten on July 6.
    Jacob McAvoy hit a two-run single to highlight a five-run fourth inning to break a 5-all tie.
    The game was called after the fifth due to the weather.
    McAvoy singled twice for three RBIs, while Hartt     tripled and singled. Wesley Raymond and Jackson Mathers each singled twice and had an RBI.  Prescott hit a run-scoring double in the win.
