MONTICELLO — A steady rain could not dampen the spirits of Monticello residents as a good crowd turned out for the town’s annual Monticello Fun Days.
“Even though it rained, everyone was dedicated and everyone had fun,” Town Manager Ginger Pryor said. “Everything was a go. We probably had 100 people or so throughout the day. Kids were sliding in the rain and having a blast. That’s what made it so neat.”
The Northern Maine Antique Tractor Club held its tractor pulls in front of the Monticello Fish and Game Club as spectators huddled under umbrellas, canopies and portable tents.
Children’s games were held behind the club, with music and activities also taking place inside. Concessions were also plentiful as everything from hand-cut French fries, hamburgers, hots dogs, and hot sausages were available to feed the masses.
The popular “Survivor” games were also held. Robin and Gracie Brewer took home top honors, while the team of Paula, David and Elizabeth Dahlk was second. Garrett Harvey and Mischa Dahlk finished third.
Results from the tractor pulls, including participant’s residence type of tractor and distance pulled, were as follows:
