Monticello has fun in store during Saturday festival

The Monticello Fun Days Committee has announced the schedule for the annual Fun Days this Saturday, June 18.
“There’s definitely something for everyone this year” said committee member Trisha Harvey. “We’re very excited to have tractor pulls this year starting at noon. And of course, it wouldn’t be Monticello Fun Days without ‘Survivor Games.’ Last year we had over a dozen teams of four, and we hope to have even more this year.”
Saturday promises enough action to keep you going all day. The day kicks of at 11 a.m. at the Monticello Fish & Game Clubhouse with a water slide, bounce house and face painting for the kids. Steve Nason and the gang will start the grills up at 11:30 a.m., selling their signature grilled sweet or spicy sausages along with hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks all day long.
The action heats up at noon with the start of the tractor pulls, which will have up to 13 groups competing. For the younger set, kids’ games kick off at the same time, including an egg toss, a half-dollar search that promises to fill up a few piggy banks, an Oreo stacking contest, and piñatas.
“Survivor Games” kick off at 1:30 p.m., with Terry Wade and the Monticello Fun Days crew leading teams of four through the afternoon long competition. Expect some new games this year to challenge teams of all ages, ending with the signature obstacle course race. Come with your own team, or get matched up with a team on Saturday.  Cash prizes to the top three teams will be awarded.
At 8 p.m., join Doubletap in celebrating Monticello Fun Days. Bring your lawn chair and cooler of non-alcoholic beverages for this chem-free, all ages show to raise money for area schools’ Project Graduation.  Tickets are $6 per person or $10 per couple.  Kids 10 and under can attend for free.
“Doubletap is the County’s premier blues band and we’re thrilled to be able to provide another concert this year for the community and provide a safe, family friendly environment.” said committee member Kent Wotton.
All in all, it promises to be a fun filled weekend in Monticello, with plenty to do to keep everyone in the family busy and entertained.
